Never order flowers from here--or from here via FTD! My husband ordered flowers for my birthday to be delivered at work; I work at Caltech which is a fairly-well known landmark in Pasadena and this florist is located only about 10 minutes away. The driver called me an hour before he delivered the flowers saying that someone had ordered flowers for me but he didn't know where to deliver them. I told him I worked in Millikan Library at Caltech and he said he knew that but he didn't know the address. Like many college campuses, Caltech does not have street addresses for every building. However, there is a map online of all of the buildings on campus. If you were, say, surprising someone with flowers, you'd probably use this map to find their building without calling them. I played along and tried to explain to him where my building was and he just kept asking for the street number. I gave him the nearest intersection, since there is no street number for my building. He then calls an hour later to say he is parked near that intersection and that he's parked on a red curb so he can't get out of the car or he'll get a ticket so I have to come down and get the flowers. I had to walk down to a Nissan minivan on the side of the street to get my flowers--unacceptable for the amount of money it costs to send flowers! You are paying for the service! When I confronted the driver he was rude, and kept saying: "if you would have told me the address, I would have brought them up to your building--I'm not a lazy person!" I said, again, that the building doesn't have an address, but a map is available online. He got defensive and I walked away. The flowers themselves were a bit wilted and not well arranged; I've seen much better from the grocery store. The manager on the phone said she was going to call FTD to let them know what happened so my husband would get a discount. I don't count on that ever happening.
I love the new management and the new owner who just bought this lovely little flowershop!! I just ordered some Mother's Day flowers and I'm so excited for my Mom to receive them!! Can't wait!!
My coworker received a flower delivery from Jacob Maarse a few weeks ago and they had no problem finding their way to Caltech, our building, and her desk without asking her directly. From now on, I'll ask my husband to order from there. Happy street-side minivan birthday flowers to me! Seriously: don't support this place.
